About Me
The Khodiyar Mandir is a sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Maa Khodiyar, a revered goddess known for her miraculous powers and deep devotion to her followers. This temple holds immense religious significance, especially among devotees in Gujarat and nearby regions. Managed and maintained by the Khodiyar Mandir Trust, the temple is not just a place of worship but also a center of cultural heritage, tradition, and faith.

Origins of Maa Khodiyar
Maa Khodiyar is believed to be an incarnation of divine power who emerged to protect her devotees and restore dharma. According to legends, she appeared in the Charan (poet-saint) family of Gujarat. Her story begins with Mamaniya Gadhvi, a loyal devotee of Lord Shiva and a servant in the royal court. When the king banished him for being childless, Mamaniya prayed earnestly. As a result of his devotion, Lord Shiva blessed him with seven daughters and one son — one of whom was Khodiyar Mata.

Maa Khodiyar’s life was filled with miracles. She once rode a crocodile (her vahana) to save her devotees and walked across rivers to bless the poor and helpless. Her powers became widely known, and she was soon worshipped as a manifestation of Shakti.

Establishment of Khodiyar Mandir
The Khodiyar Mandir was established to honor her divine presence and spiritual legacy. The temple is built on a sacred spot where it is believed Maa Khodiyar once visited or performed a miracle. Over time, this place became a spiritual hub where thousands gather to seek her blessings.

The Khodiyar Mandir Trust was formed to manage the temple’s activities, religious events, and charitable works. The trust ensures that the temple remains a center of devotion, cleanliness, and spiritual learning. Through the years, it has expanded the temple premises, constructed rest houses, and arranged regular pujas, bhajan-sandhyas, and bhandaras (community feasts).

Architectural and Cultural Significance
The architecture of the Khodiyar Mandir reflects traditional Gujarati temple design with intricate carvings, a grand entrance, and a sanctum housing the idol of Maa Khodiyar. The temple complex also includes a pond symbolizing her journey through water and often features her statue riding a crocodile, symbolizing fearlessness and divine strength.
